We are on the way to TOPSAIL ISLAND in North Carolina next week. It is a family beach WITHOUT a carnival atmosphere and theme park attractions. There are many good and inexpensive seafood restaurants, small shops for souvenirs and two large grocery stores. If you put TOPSAIL ISLAND on Google, you will find more information than you want to know. If you are looking for a "beach" experience with miles of sand and a gentle surf, this is the place to look.

Well depending what part of the coast you want. I would say
Cape Cod, MA (on cape cod I would stay a t a B&B called Agape Bed & Breakfast - they take kids.)
Hilton Head, SC (for Hilton Head I maybe depending on your price range Palmeto Dunnes Plantation has great time shares to rent like, St. Andrews + Villamarie)
Hope this information helps, Have a great trip!

Ocean City, NJ is one of the best rated places for a family vacation. It's a dry town, and it has a boarkwalk with two small amusement parks geared toward young children.
