It really depends on what you mean by “best”. If your looking for the most beautiful beach to rent a condo for a week, I’d recommed Siesta Key in Sarasota. It has the most gorgeous white powdery sand of any beach in Florida. There are also great restaurants on the beach and in Sarasota, which is a pretty artsy city with a lot of upscale shopping and fun things to do. This is a great spot for families or others looking for a low key beach vacation. There is night life in Sarasota, but if partying is a big part of your vacation experience, I’d recommend Ft Lauderdale or South Beach. The beaches are still nice and there’s tons of night life.

Depends on what you want to do – just lay on the beach/in the sun? Walk in the sand? Surf? Snorkel? Dive? Nightlife?
I’m biased, because I live here, but I like the Keys. Several amazing national parks with the only living reef in the US, Key West is a blast, and there’s always something going on here. If you want to just “park it” in one location – go somewhere else, though. Too much to do all over here!
