What Can You Tell Me About Laguna Beach To Help Me Navigate Our Vacation?

We’ve been to Huntington/Newport areas a lot, never to Laguna. We’re renting a place that’s steps to the beach & near “The Village”. Does that mean town?
We love to explore new cities, we love good food & fish markets, we love to hang out w/ our two (elementary age) kids & dog.
I was told we can “take the trolley” anywhere in town. How do I find out about this? What are some things to research or google before we go?
