We have a small, but historic and very beautiful zoo.
We have clear ocean water, excellent for snorkle and scuba.
You can get to know our tropical plants with a visit to Mount's Botanical Gardens. The PGA Blvd campus of PBCC also has very attractive gardens, but may only be open on school days.
The Lake Worth Playhouse is a historical gem, and is rumored to be HAUNTED. The Playhouse shows movies and other entertainments as well as great theater. Every seat is a great seat.
Visit downtown West Palm Beach AND downtown Lake Worth for two very different "dinner downtown" experiences. I recommend The O'Shea Irish Pub in WPB and Dave's Last Resort in LW. Be sure to ride the free trolley for a look around WPB.
Breakfast at John G's, on the beach at Lake Worth pier, is a MUST. Breakfast waffles with tropical fruit at Aloha Cafe in downtown LW is mighty fine too. Real maple syrup is available on request.
Cruise along A1A and be amazed that private homes come in such large sizes. Follow up with window shopping on Worth Avenue. "Affordable" sandwiches are available at Chuck & Harolds, Tabu Lounge, Testa's Italian. By affordable, I mean $15-20 for a hamburger made with half a pound of ground filet mignon.
While in Palm Beach, visit the Henry Flagler Museum. I recommend you take the guided tour -- without the guide you miss things like Henry's secret stairway, used to escape his wife's parties.
There's great bicycling and roller blading along the west side of the intracoastal waterway from Lake Worth to WPB and beyond.
Check for polo games out in Wellington. Make sure the match is open to the public before you drive all the way to the polo grounds.
If you are campers, John Prince Park is just west of downtown Lake Worth and offers water/electric sites at a reasonable rate.
If you want to do less driving (and paying for parking) in unfamiliar areas, use TriRail to visit Fort Lauderdale or even Miami. Service is a lot less frequent on weekends. Shuttle buses and trolleys connect with downtowns, beaches, attractions.
