The Fischer Island Resort is a great hotel there. But since you are also considering Clearwater, which is an equally good place to stay if you're into the beach, the Sandpearl resort is one of the topnotch hotels there. The areas are nice and the white sand beaches are the best. The Gulf of Mexico waters are nearly 90 degrees. S/W Florida is very beautiful! I would recommend Marco Island or Naples area.
