Looking For A Beach Vacation For Me And My 16 Year Old Daughter, Any Favorite Spots?

My 16 year old daughter has recently come back into my life. I found out she has never been to the ocean, so this Spring or Summer I want to take her to the beach.
Would prefer East Coast and I don’t have a huge amount of money to spend. Would prefer somewhere with something to do other than sit on the beach.
