Its a great beach, I live a few minutes away from it. But if you want a nicer beach try Ana Maria Island near Bradenton, FL. They have several beach houses that give you a nicer view of the ocean. Clearwater is great though. It also depends the amount of people you want around you honestly, Clearwater is usually packed where as Ana Maria is more calmed and private.

I live just east of Tampa just now and have had vacations in the past in the Clearwater area as have my parents.
Clearwater can be nice in places but we stick to a place called Treasure island. We just stay in a small motel literally on the beach that’s right next to a couple of bars and nice restaurants. It’s also a very short drive from Clearwater itself.
There’s a couple of bars on a dock and one of the bars there, people actually drive their boat up to it instead of their cars, it’s pretty neat.

I haven’t been but I’m sure it is nice. If it is a pretty as Panama City Beach you will love it.
