You should be able to figure this one out.
I don't have any specific links to hotels or condos, but I think the advice I have will help you out.
Go to craigslist.com and go to Florida, then the related city. I have found some great deals on everything from time shares to hotels & condos. http://tampa.craigslist.org/vac/
There is the URL for craigslist's tampa bay area vacation rentals. I love tampa/ybor/clearwater and always have a blast there. Your close to the beach, nightlife, so forth. You won't find anything beach front for that amount of money but you get the idea, search around, see what you come up with. Sounds like you're going during the peak season so... well you you know.
I don't know where you are coming from, but you might want to check out other places. Virginia Beach, Nags Head, bust out a map and search around. You WILL find what you are looking for, just maybe not where you have your heart set.
Good luck, and I hope it all works out. . . . remember it's not where you are, it's who you're with that makes the trip memorable.
Happy Travels!

I hate to answer with a question first, but it sounds like you rarely if ever go to Florida -- with 3 kids would you rather be closer to the Orlando area? If so, I might recommend that you look at the area around Cocoa Beach. It's fun, a little honky-tonk, and pretty. Less than an hour from Orlando, and yet not to high-brow that the prices will be insane. And very close to Kennedy Space Center.
Some say the gulf coast is prettier if it's JUST a beach you're after -- you might want to look at Naples or Marco Island. Lots to do in Naples; more laid-back and relaxing in Marco.
I know this won't be best answer because I'm not really giving all the info you wanted, but I wanted to be sure to at least point you in some of my favorite directions in case no one can give you anything more specific.
Good luck and have a wonderful vacation!!

I lived on Fort Myers Beach for three years and traveled to many places in FL and personally think the Fort Myers/ Naples area is one of the best. Try www.sandpipergulfresort.com or www.vacationrentalsfortmyersbeach.com
Sanibel and Captiva are very, very nice islands (fort Myers beach is also an island) Beautiful, quiet, tranquil, old style fl. great for family vaca.

We have had great success using www.vrbo.com to rent condos and houses.
My favorite Florida beaches/areas are St. Augustine. Daytona, Cocoa (wouldn't want to spend more than a few days here, though), , Naples, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Destin, Seaside, Panama City.
