With seventy miles of coastline, there are lots of beaches to choose from, lots of upscale accommodations, and things for families to do. I'd recommend Coronado Island....very clean upscale area with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel Del Coronado and Loews are both superior accommodations. The beach is clean and it's gorgeous. There's Sea World, the zoo, Wild Animal Park, Lego Land, and lots of museums to explore. You'll find lots of fun outdoor activities....some of my favorites include kayaking through the caves in La Jolla, roasting marshmallows on the beach, renting jet skis, hiking, biking, hanggliding, and parasailing.
